Keep the Fun in Your Wedding Planning

To say there’s a lot to think about when planning your wedding is a vast understatement. From invitations, to music, to flowers, to catering, the “to-do” list can seem overwhelming. But it’s important to remember that your big day is supposed to be fun!

If you’re feeling a bit paralyzed by what lies ahead, take a deep breath, sit down with your sweetheart and map out three or four elements of your wedding that are truly important to you. Once these key pieces are in place, you’ll find it much easier — and less stressful — to knock off all the other items on your wedding day checklist.

Other tips: Set deadlines (and keep them) to help you feel in control. Stay organized by keeping all of your planning info in one place (whether that’s a digital file or physical binder). And delegate, delegate, delegate: Your friends and family are excited and eager to help — so loosen up and let them!

To help jumpstart your planning, we’ve highlighted four Towson-area establishments that are particularly popular among area couples.

20 E. Timonium Road Suite 312, Timonium,

“We design and create a one-of-a-kind dress made just for the future bride’s size, style, timeline and her vision, using the finest textiles and construction techniques to help make a bride’s dreams come true,” says Ella Pritsker,  president and creative director.

Wedding Fare: The Classic Catering People

99 Painters Mill Road, Owings Mills,

“Through a blend of seasonal ingredients, global flavors, contemporary cuisine and outstanding hospitality, Classic’s name is synonymous with culinary creativity, integrity and service,” notes this woman-owned business, which has earned rave reviews on Wedding Wire.

Flavor Cupcakery and Bake Shop

10253 York Road, Cockeysville,

“We focus on flavor with our cakes and all of our desserts,” owner Shelley Stannard says. “Couples love to have a smaller cake for themselves and then create gorgeous wedding dessert displays with our variety of offerings: cupcakes, French macarons, truffles, pies, cookies and parfaits.”

Invitations: MLC Designs

403 Allegheny Ave., Towson,

“With no pre-selected design templates, color palettes or font lists to choose from, our designs are always completely original and custom,” owner Madeline Comoglio says.
